Richard “Hap” Carl Carville was born in Long Beach, CA to John and Helen Carville on July 1, 1939. As a young boy, someone commented that he was the happiest kid they had ever seen, and from then on he was most often called by his nickname “Happy”, usually shortened to “Hap”.

After the marriage ended, Hap lived life fully before finally meeting his last and longest love, Rita, in 1999. They became life partners, living together and supporting each other for the past 22 years. Hap loved watching sports, especially English Football and American Football and Basketball. He also liked to go bowling, once bowling a perfect 300 game, and he enjoyed taking occasional trips to Las Vegas.
