

Richard Gwan Han was born in Malang, Indonesia, the eldest child of Han Hok Tjhiang (Henry Han) and Dodo Han. He grew up in Jakarta with his two younger sisters. In 1979, at age 17, Richard and his family immigrated to the United States, eventually making Orange County, California, their home.
Richard had a passion for education and technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from UC Irvine, graduating magna cum laude, followed by a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University and an MBA from UC Irvine.
Richard built a distinguished career in software engineering with Rockwell International, Unisys International, McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, FieldCentrix, and Astea. A highlight of his career was contributing to the Guidance, Navigation, and Control software for the International Space Station. His accomplishments earned him several honors, including the NASA Manned Space Flight Awareness Award in 1997.
Richard married Mega Han in 1990, and they became parents to three children: Brendan, Braxton, and Brianna. He was a devoted father who worked hard to provide his children with opportunities, a good education, and a strong foundation for their lives.
Beyond his family and career, Richard enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, playing mahjong and computer games, and traveling.
Above all, Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and generous nature. He was always willing to help others and had a sincere way of making those around him feel welcomed and cared for.
His kindness, love, and memories will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, coworkers, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Richard was deeply loved and will be forever remembered and forever missed.
