Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Richard grew up in Merrimac, where many of the stories he loved to tell began. Whether he was reminiscing about growing up, talking about the "good old days," or sharing one of his many adventures, he had a gift for turning everyday moments into stories that made people laugh.
Richard spent many years working in environmental services at a hospital, taking pride in his work and the people he worked alongside. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching sports, bowling, and had a lifelong appreciation for old cars. He could spend hours talking about a classic car just as easily as he could cheer on his favorite team or swap stories with family and friends.
Richard was known for being stubborn and a little grumpy, but that was only part of who he was. Anyone who got to know him quickly discovered his sharp sense of humor, the warmth behind his tough exterior and his incredible determination to keep going. He had a way of making people laugh when they least expected it, and those moments are memories his family will always hold close.
Bowling was one of Richard's greatest joys, and it's impossible for those who loved him to think of a bowling alley without thinking of him. The memories made there, and the countless stories, laughs, and time spent together will always be a reminder of the life he lived.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne; his children, Kristina, Angela, Robert, and Wendy; his stepson, Justin; his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Nicolas, Savannah, Adriannah, and Ashley; Brother-in-law Scott Freeman (Karen Freeman). He also leaves behind extended family and many friends who will miss him deeply. Richard wasn't a perfect man, but he was genuine, funny, and unforgettable. He lived life his own way, loved his family in his own way, and left behind stories that will continue to be told for years to come. His laughter, his love of old cars and bowling, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
