Being a “Girl Dad” meant everything to Rodney. Taylor and Shelby were his biggest accomplishments and his greatest joy. Rod was so very proud of his daughters and bragged about them any chance he had. In addition to having been a super dad, a major part of Rodney's legacy was his passion for his family. Rodney’s relationship with his siblings was most important to him. Rodney, Joy, Ronnie and Donnie were best friends and confidants. And he loved each and every cousin, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle and in-law dearly.
Rodney leaves to cherish his memory to his two daughters, Taylor Barnes and Shelby Barnes, and their mother Barbara Winfrey Barnes, two brothers, Ronald M. Barnes, M.D., of Menifee, CA, Donald D. Barnes, of Torrance, CA; one aunt, Althea Hall of West Palm Beach, FL, nieces, Summer Jones, Zuri Phillips, Monica McFarland, nephews, Donald Devin Barnes (Daniela), Ronald Barnes, II, Marcus Barnes, Sr., Mason Swalley-Barnes and a host of first cousins, great grand-nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
A celebration of life for Rodney will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 5:00 PM at Philadelphia Church of Seventh Day Adventists, 2640 Santa Fe Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90810.
