

Roy Criner, 89 of Yorba Linda, CA, passed away on May 7, 2014 with family members by his side. Services are set for Sunday, May 18 at 3:30 PM at McAulay and Wallace Mortuary in Yorba Linda, CA with burial at Riverside National Cemetery. Roy was born to a farm family of 11 in Ripley, TN on Sep. 22, 1924. He was married to Arlene (Cowdery) Criner for 51 years. Arlene preceded him in death. Roy lived in Yorba Linda for 55 years where he was owner of Criner Construction Co., builder of custom homes, office buildings and restaurants. Roy, a member of the Greatest Generation, farmed as a boy in Tennessee. Roy served in the US Navy during World War II as a Boatswain's mate, fighting in the major battles of the South Pacific. After the Navy, Roy obtained his contractors license, established his own construction company and was the first Little League District Representative in Southern California. He was a Cubmaster. Roy also belonged to the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Free Masons and Rotary Club. He is survived by his brother Rozelle Criner of Ripley, Tennessee; his 4 children Jerry, Rick, Patty and Julie; his 9 Grandchildren; and 18 Great Grandchildren. Roy enjoyed building and fixing things, coaching youth baseball, Idaho salmon fishing with his friends, and spending time with his family, especially his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
