

Roy Alexander Lae, Sr., passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 1, 2020. He was born on December 17, 1923, to Alexander and Marie (Campbell) Lae in Barranquilla, Colombia and was the eldest of five children. Roy grew up in Trinidad and moved to Fullerton, California to attend high school. He served in the United States Navy from March 8, 1943 to February 27, 1946 during World War II as an Electrical Technician Mate First Class. He was reinstated to active service in 1951 and served in the Korean War from June 21 to December 21, 1951. Roy remained in the Naval Reserve until April 22, 1953. He was extremely proud of his military service and felt honored to serve his country. He attended and graduated from Fullerton College in 1947 with an Associate in Arts Degree. He married his love, Blanche (Boisseranc), in 1951. He started working at Chevron Oil Field Research Company in February of 1951 as a laboratory technician. He worked there until he retired at the age of 62. After retiring, he stayed active by volunteering at the Braille Institute repairing audio equipment for the blind. He also enjoyed spending time at Duck Creek Village in Utah where he would fish, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Roy loved his family and friends, and was generous with his time and talent. He repaired many toasters, fixed electrical problems, and tended his garden. He also loved to solve his daily crossword puzzles. He is survived by three children, Deborah (Raymond), Janet (Kevin), and Michael (Michele). Roy is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, seven nieces, and four nephews. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Lae, Joan Goodman, and Barbara Lae. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife, and eldest son, Roy, Jr.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary in Fullerton, California. Viewing numbers are limited; preference will be given to family. The funeral will take place on Monday, August 10, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Juliana Catholic Church/School and will be outside in the lunch pavilion area. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, we ask that you bring your own chair. Hospitality ministers will be available to help with seating upon your arrival. Burial will immediately follow the ceremony at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.
