Sharrie Plagman Wittrock, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on July 13, 2026, in Whittier, California. Her story began on September 6, 1937, in Peterson, Iowa, where she was born to Lloyd and Virginia (Mueller) Plagman. Tragically, she lost her mother to childbirth complications shortly after her arrival.
Sharrie grew up surrounded by love, raised by her maternal grandparents, Agnes and John Mueller, alongside aunts and uncles who were affectionately embraced as her older siblings. She later attended Peterson High School, where she truly thrived. A stellar student, Sharrie excelled scholastically, proudly played on the basketball team, and performed in the school's marching band.
On August 31, 1957, Sharrie married Paul Wittrock at Sacred Heart Church in Sutherland, Iowa. Together, they welcomed six children—three sons and three daughters. As they built their life together, Sharrie’s journey took her from Iowa to Arizona before she finally settled in California to raise her beautiful family.
While her early work in banking led to a dedicated career in accounting, her true passion lay in serving her community. She found immense joy working in the elementary school kitchen and feeding the student body. This deep love for nourishing others continued long after, as she volunteered with Meals on Wheels to provide food for neighbors in need.
After raising her family, Sharrie married Chris Reardon, and together they made their home in Nicholasville, Kentucky, where they lived for many years.
Her selflessness, resilience, grace, and wit will forever be missed, leaving an indelible mark on every heart she touched. Age never softened her spirit; she remained wonderfully stubborn and delightfully sharp-witted to the very end.
Sharrie is survived by a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She leaves behind her six children: Gregory Wittrock and his wife Kristin of Colorado; Michael Wittrock and his wife Joceline of California; Deanna Elliott and her husband Joseph of California; Janeen Parminter and her husband Robert of California; Douglas Wittrock and his husband Roger of Oregon; and Andrea Tornquist and her husband Clay of Connecticut.
She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle), Jessica (Jacob), Charleen, Holly (Jake), Samantha, Marilyn, Philip (Julianne), and Amy (Zachary); her four great-grandchildren: Millie, Maeve, Marshall, and Charlyn; and her half-sister, Sandra Lorenzen of Washington. Sharrie leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
MEMORIAL SERVICES Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, Iowa.
INTERMENT Saturday August 1, 2026 at Calvary Cemetery, Sutherland, Iowa.
