

Velma JoAnn Smith, 85, passed away peacefully in her home on September 3, 2019. She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 18, 1934. She settled in California where she spent many years in the San Diego area but has called Fullerton home for the last 35 years.
Velma JoAnn was involved in the Mormon Church for many years. She worked many jobs throughout her life but found much enjoyment in taking care of others as a caregiver.
She is predeceased by her parents Earl and Sue Alexander and her sister Garnet Kindig of Akron Ohio.
She is survived by her four children; Sherry Newman, Kevin Smith, Jerry Smith (Rose) and Daryl Smith. Her six grandchildren; Eric Mayotte (Brooke), Valerie DeMallie (Sean), Jeremy Smith, Jerry Smith Jr., Ashley Smith and Cody Smith. She was proud to be called “G.G.” by her seven great grandchildren; Courtney Mayotte, Matthew Brown, Maximus Mayotte, Eliza Brown, Sampson Mayotte, Madyson Lynn and Alex Smith and her great great granddaughter Vivian Mayotte. And, of course, her best bud Lucky.
She had such an open and loving heart and this world is a much better place for having her here. She loved unconditionally and will forever be missed.
The family will be having a small private ceremony in the future.
