It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Andre Polissedjian, at the age of 76 on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Rockville, Maryland after a brief illness. Andre will be truly missed by all those who loved him.
Andre was born in Marseille, France on June 19, 1949. He was the son of Gerard and Marie Polissedjian, and brother to Martine Polissedjian. Gerard was a French resistance fighter during WWII, and went on to become a men’s hair stylist, opening his own shop on 5th Avenue in New York City after they immigrated to the United States. Marie was a loving mother and enjoyed cooking traditional Armenian and French cuisine. Andre was a musician at heart, and would always reminisce of the time he spent attending Rhode Island College. He shared college stories of when he was in a band - singing and playing the drums with friends. He also enjoyed his time playing soccer on his college team and being involved in his fraternity, Kappa Delta Rho. Andre continued to enjoy soccer, and would often be heard yelling out “Allez Les Bleus” while watching his favorite French soccer team. Andre was proud of his French and Armenian heritage, and was driven by his desire to educate himself on Armenian history.
Andre was known for his humor and sarcastic wit, and will be remembered by how much he loved and cared for his family. Andre met his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Yandoli, and they were married in New York on October 1, 1977. Andre was the proud father of three children: Melissa, Jessica, and Matthew. Andre enjoyed participating in Indian Guides and pine car derbies with his son, and teaching his daughters how to be independent. He was unfortunately predeceased by his second daughter, Jessica Lynn Polissedjian, when she unexpectedly passed in 2020.
Andre is survived by his wife Mary and his children, Melissa (John) and Matthew (Kim), as well as his grandsons Theodore and Lucas, and sister Martine (Monir).
“Don’t forget or deny your family roots, remember where you came from. May the wind always be at your back and Angels on your shoulders.”
