Bernard Gomersall

Rest in peace Bernard Gomersall. Beloved husband of the Late Ruth Mary, father of Bernadette Ginley, Grandfather to Beverley McGaughan and Theresa Belcastro, Great Grandfather to Miranda McGaughan, and friend to all. Proud Yorkshiremen and recent American. Champion ultra-long distance runner in the 1960s.

On Saturday October 15th Bernard's race on earth ended and he was reunited in heaven with Ruth, his wife of 50 years. He had been sick for a while but thankfully not in any pain.Bernard was born and lived in the city of Leeds in the County of Yorkshire, England. After his wife passed, he emergrated to Gaithersburg Maryland to join his family.

In the 1960's, he was a Ultralong distance marathon runner and was considered to be the best in the world at that time.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday October 21st at St. Martins Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, MD. A wake will be held after the ceremony at Quincey's bar and grill.

Bernard's ashes will be returned to England and buried next to Ruth's at a later date.
