

Betty Anne Turner, 100, died in her sleep on May 23, 2024, at The Village at Rockville in Rockville, MD. She was born on February 11, 1924, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Claude Foster and Margaret Regina (Murray) Sullivan.
Betty graduated from Annapolis High School, Class of 1942. Following graduation, she lived with her aunt, Ethel Sullivan Beere in Annapolis and helped her aunt run a tea room across from the State House. In 1953, at the age of 29, she married the love of her life, Wilbur Heise Turner and they settled first in Hyattsville, MD, and then bought a house in Rockville, MD. They celebrated 38 blissful years together until Wilbur’s death in 1992. Betty was employed as a secretary for several years by the American Chemical Society and then found employment as a secretary with Vitro Corporation in Aspen Hill. For 22 years, Betty was a loyal employee of Vitro. She retired in 1982 to care for Wilbur after an illness. After retirement, she worked at various part-time jobs, including as a tutor contact for the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, MD, Inc., as well as a home health aide for the elderly. For many years, Betty and Wilbur were active participants in the Rockville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9862, where Wilbur was the first commander.
In addition to Wilbur, Betty is predeceased by her step-daughter Carolynn Lee (Turner-Hynes) Shook. Surviving are their daughter Regina Murray (Turner-Kukucka) Heppes and her husband Roger Payne Heppes, Jr. of Clarksburg, MD, Clinton Shook, husband of Carolynn, four grandchildren, Theresa Regina (Hynes) Cunningham and her husband Thomas, Robert Francis Hynes, Jr., and his wife Patricia, Kathleen Elizabeth (Shook-Johnson) Ryan, and Matthew David Kukucka and his husband Jacob Plato, and is a proud great grandmother of four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Cedarbrook Community Church on Saturday, June 8,, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., 23700 Stringtown Road, Clarksburg, MD, 20871. Interment will be at the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
