Beverley Stevenson, aged 89 passed away early in the morning of May 12, 2026. Bev enjoyed a large circle of friends she nurtured over her long life. Her home was often filled with the noise of friends, neighbors, and relatives who came to enjoy her good cooking, laugh, tease and just feel at home. Bev never met a stranger. All were welcomed and soon became her friend. Bev loved to talk on the phone, laugh watching comedies and lend a sympathetic ear to listen when needed.
Bev was born in Detroit, MI, the first of four children of Jack and Faye Dunn. She was the first girl of seven female cousins to go to college. Bev’s dad was often teased that since he sent Bev to college, now they would have to send their daughters, too. Bev loved her years at the University of MI and remained a passionate fan of anything U-M.
Bev married her sweetheart, Fred Stevenson in 1959. They had two children, Allen and Jennifer. Bev and Fred were married for fifty years until Fred’s sudden death on the day of fiftieth wedding anniversary party.
Bev was a teacher for many years and after raising her family, enjoyed working at the Department of Energy in Washington DC. She loved her job and loved her coworkers.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, son Allen, and brother John Dunn. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer, sisters Janet and Linda Dunn, special nieces Sue and Bev Smith, other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her extraordinary neighbor Andi, lifelong friends Kathryn, Indrani and Cindy and many more friends that would fill this page.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 am at the Neelsville Presbyterian Church, 20701 Frederick Rd. Germantown. MD.
The world is just a bit dimmer today without Bev.
