Bruce Hollingsworth Johnson, 57, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Born March 15, 1963 in Washington, DC, he grew up in nearby Silver Spring, MD. Preceded in death by his mother, Edith Harper Johnson, Bruce is survived by his father, Robert Johnson, sister Karen Patterson (Michael), brother Stuart Johnson (Michele), nieces Erin Richmond, and Lynn Patterson, nephews Sean Patterson, Ryan Patterson, and Meyer Johnson, and cousin Priscilla Johnson-Miles. He will be fondly remembered as “Gubby” by his beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
Bruce lived life to its fullest and could always be counted on to be the life of the party. His interests were just as expansive as his personality. Always active and on the go, his love of motorcycles and other motorsports took him traveling across the country, as did his enthusiasm for attending live concerts of his favorite bands. He was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed a good round of golf.
Bruce’s one-of-a-kind personality made a lasting impression on everyone he met. It was so strong and vibrant that he maintained friendships from as far back as his elementary school days. Friends and family will miss his heart of gold, which was often demonstrated by his generosity in lending a hand to anyone in need of help.
Due to current COVID restrictions there will be no public viewing or service. The family will hold a private graveside service and interment at All Souls Cemetery, Germantown MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce’s name to NAMI (www.nami.org), or the charity of your choice.
