

Carolyn S. Skinker, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 77 at her home at Riderwood Village surrounded by family. Carolyn was born on April 6, 1948, in Washington DC to William H. Smith, and Carrie T. Smith. She was a devoted member of her churches, Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church in Four Corners and Epworth United Methodist in Gaithersburg, where she participated in youth group, sang in the choir, and many other ministries. As a young adult she enjoyed duckpin bowling, and throughout her life enjoyed music. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid University of Maryland sports supporter, where she loved attending football and women’s basketball games. Carolyn began her secretarial career working for the National Institutes of Health and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. She spent the last 30 years of her career as a secretary at Wooton High School.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Dudley G. Skinker, Jr. of 54 years. She is also survived by her two sons Brad Skinker and Michael Skinker and her daughters-in-law Annamarie Skinker and Sarah Jane Skinker, as well as 7 grandchildren; Graham, Bradley, William, Anna, Ella, Lena, and Emily.
The funeral service will be held on April 6, 2026, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg. Viewing will be at 9:30am, service at 10:30am, followed by a repast. Internment will take place at 2pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Montgomery Hospice or Epworth United Methodist Church.
