Cecilia Keller Frey, 19, passed away at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland on November 4, 2024. At the age of three Cecilia was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a severe neurological disorder that is diagnosed primarily in girls. Though she never spoke or walked independently, she was a healthy, joyful young woman who charmed many with her laugh, smile, and expressive eyes. She had legions of fans at her school, Saint Coletta of Greater Washington, DC and Jill’s House of McLean where she attended camp. She loved being outdoors, being around her peers, and watching her older brother play soccer.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Steffen Frey and Rebecca Post of Aiken, South Carolina; her brother, Andreas Keller Frey of Copenhagen, Denmark; her grandmother, Ulla Frey of Corfu, Greece; her grandfather, Lark Keller of Silver Spring Maryland; and aunts Kimberly Keller of Greensboro, NC and Camilla Frey of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is predeceased by her mother, Sharon Keller Frey and grandmother, Jean Keller.
We would like to thank the teachers, therapists, counselors, and others that supported Cecilia through the years. Please consider a donation to Saint Coletta of Greater Washington in support of their mission to empower children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
A reception to celebrate Cecilia’s life will be held on December 21, 2024, between the hours of 12:00-3:00pm at Maggiano's Little Italy at 5333 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC.
Funeral service and interment will be private.
