Christianah Aduke Omole

April 13, 1941 - December 30, 2023

Christianah Aduke Omole, a nurse, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the age of 82 from complications of lung cancer in Derwood, Maryland.

Christianah Aduke was born April 13, 1941, in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. She was in the first batch of healthcare professionals trained by Catholic missionaries at St Louis Hospital, in Owo, Nigeria. She enjoyed her career, first as a midwife, and as a community health nurse, providing emergency medicine, vaccinations, and primary healthcare at the community level. She also loved to sow, knit, and cook.

She traveled to America to care for her first grandchild in 1998 and became a US citizen in 2008.

Our mother was fearless in her devotion to her family, fierce in her Christian faith and hope, and held several family and prayer groups together through love, generosity, and care. She is survived by her children and six grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Nigeria, and by a community of friends both in the USA and Nigeria.

On behalf of the family, her daughter Abigail would like to thank her healthcare providers, and her friends and family in the USA and Nigeria for their concern during the period of our mom’s illness.

A Funeral Service will be held from 11:00 Am to 12 Noon on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the DeVol Funeral Home at 10 E Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.

Interment will follow immediately at All Souls Cemetery in Germantown, Maryland.
