Cynthia Saul Connolly

Cynthia (Cindy) Connolly of Germantown, MD passed away July 2, 2025, after 5 months of in-home Hospice Care following a diagnosis of metastatic bone cancer. Cindy was born in Roanoke, VA to the late William Saul and Christine (Peters) Saul on January 19,1955. Cindy was the only girl, and middle child between her older brother Gary and her younger, late brother Andy.

Cindy grew up in the town of Boones Mill, VA and attended Franklin County High School.

She went to college at Virginia Tech where she majored in Elementary Education and as a junior, met grad student, Kevin Connolly. Shortly after Cindy’s college graduation, she and Kevin were married in the Virginia Tech Chapel, July 9, 1978.

Cindy was a lifelong elementary and middle school teacher in Roanoke, VA, Richmond, VA, Chapel Hill, NC and Montgomery County, MD. She was universally loved by her students, her colleagues and her supervisors. However, the focus of her life was always her family, especially her two daughters Erin (Howard) and Shannon (Ross). After 25 years as a dedicated teacher, she retired so that she could focus her attention on her three beautiful granddaughters, Bella Howard. Ava Howard and Sophia Ross.

In addition to those already mentioned, Cindy is survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews who have lent their support in her struggle with cancer.
