Dorothy C. Butler, 91, a resident of Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, MD passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021. Born in Niagara Falls, New York on August 21, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Josephine Masters and the wife of 56 years to the late Howard D. Butler. Dorothy spent much of her life in Lewiston, New York where she worked for HART (Home Assistance Referral Team) Interfaith, a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable people to maintain quality of life by linking them with qualified and affordable help. Later, she joined her children in the Washington DC area, where—in her final years—she benefited greatly by the loving care provided to her by the staff of the Kindley Assisted Living facility at Asbury.
Dorothy took great joy from the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her three sons, David (Kathryn), Don (Diane), and Brian Butler; grandchildren Kristen (Corey), Brendan, Kyle, and Colin; and great-grandchildren Oliver and Emily.
Inurnment, alongside Howard, will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be determined. Sentiment may be expressed through a contribution to the Asbury Methodist Village (AMV) Benevolent Care Endowment Fund or to HART Interfaith, Inc., Lewiston, NY.
