On the afternoon of August 21, 2022, Erin Lynch passed away at age 58 after a 9-year battle with cancer. She faced her diagnosis with bravery and grace and without complaints. Erin never let her health issues stand in the way of being an integral part of her family, her school world, and her involvement in the lives of her friends. She was always interested in what was going on with everyone else rather than focusing on her own health. She loved to travel, and her recent cruise to Alaska was a highlight of her many adventures. While many people would have given up or curtailed their activities, Erin continued to live her life as fully as possible, attending weddings, movies, outings with her beloved friends, the family vacation to the beach, and doing whatever it took to attend events with the people she loved.
Erin was born at Clark Field Air Force base in the Philippines, to Donald and Gene Lynch, in 1964. She was the youngest of five children and was well traveled from birth. As a child she lived in California, Arizona, and England. The family moved to Rockville, Maryland in 1972. Erin graduated from the Peary High School Class of 1982. She attended Montgomery College, earning her Associates Degree, and began working for Montgomery County Public Schools in 1986, becoming an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter and a Cued Speech Transliterator. She loved her students and her coworkers.
Erin was blessed to have her family with her every step of her journey. She was preceded in death by her mother Gene Lynch, her father Donald Lynch, and her brother Kevin Lynch. Erin is survived by her sister Patricia Lynch, her brother Tim Lynch, stepsister Leslie Lynch, sister Sheila Lynch Shea (Dan) and nieces Caitlin Shea and Meghan Shea Parker (Ben). Her great nephew Kevin Parker and great nieces Libby Parker and Sarah Parker brought her such joy and were the subjects of most of her recent photos.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, 4:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. The interment will be held Thursday September 8, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at All Souls Cemetery, 11401 Brink Road, Germantown, MD 20876.
