

On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Frank Paul Falci Jr., a long-time resident of Potomac, MD passed away in his home with his entire family at bedside. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Wanda Falci; his daughter Jill and two sons Scott and Craig; 4 granddaughters and one great-grandson. Frank is also survived by two siblings, Arden Bushnell and Kenneth Falci.
Frank was born August 24, 1932, and spent his childhood in Bronx, N.Y. during the Great Depression. Gifted with intellect and scholarship, Frank attained degrees in naval architecture, marine engineering, and nuclear physics, and became a part of architectural and engineering history. After graduating from the elite Webb Institute, Frank was recruited by Admiral Hyman Rickover, “father” of the nuclear navy, to be part of the engineering and design team of the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine and naval vessel as well as director of nuclear reactor design for the subsequent generation of nuclear-powered naval vessels. Departing Rickover’s team in 1961, Frank continued his career in nuclear engineering in both the public and private sector and also became a successful business entrepreneur.
Frank’s Viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 pm. at De Vol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD. Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1513 Dunster Road, Rockville, MD followed by the Burial at 11:30 am. at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD.
