

Gloria, a native Washingtonian, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025. She was 96 years old and died at Brookdale Senior Living in Olney, MD. This where she happily lived out her last two and a half years of life. Gloria was born to Francis and Eva (Baker) Eisenman at Walter Reed Hospital on December 9, 1928. She grew up in Chevy Chase, MD, graduated from Chevy Chase High School, followed by two years at Mount Vernon Seminary Junior College, receiving her AA Degree. In 1951 she married Charles S. Lightbown, Jr. They had two children together and soon after bought their first home in Rockville, MD. After a mutual divorce years later, she remarried Henry S. Fleming, Jr. and they enjoyed life together in Rockville and then not too long after moved to Laytonsville, MD. They were married forty-four years before his passing in 2013.
Gloria worked at NIH (Cancer Institute) for twenty-six years before her retirement. She especially enjoyed her family, everything about Christmas, gardening, cooking, shopping, bowling, selling AVON products for over twenty years, and traveling to many U.S. timeshare destinations.
Gloria was preceded in death by both husbands as forementioned, her only son, Charles S. Lightbown, III and her younger brother, Earle William Eisenman. She is survived by her older brother, Francis Joseph Eisenman, Jr., her daughter, Sandra Lightbown McCoy (Matthew), her stepdaughter, Julie Fleming Gardner (Tim), and her stepson, Stephen P. Fleming. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Sarah Elliot Lightbown, Peter Fleming, Michael Joseph McCoy (Jeannette), Daniel Charles McCoy (Emilee) and three great-grandchildren: Vincent Magana, Miles McCoy, and Riley McCoy.
