Born on March 27, 1975, Harry lived a life defined by service, faith, humor, and unwavering care for others. A mason, a veteran of the United States Navy and an officer with the Montgomery County Department of Corrections, Harry dedicated much of his life to protecting and serving those around him. He carried strength and conviction in everything he did, yet those who knew him best will remember his selfless heart, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter even in difficult moments.
Above all, Harry was a devoted and loving husband to Melissa Katherine Dunton, whose strength and constant presence were at the center of his life. Their bond was one of deep partnership, love, and unwavering support.
He was the beloved son of Larry and Nanci Dunton, and a caring and proud brother to Danielle Dunton deGorter and her husband, Peter John deGorter.
Harry was also deeply cherished by Melissa’s family, including his father-in-law, John Nicholas Hrin, and sister-in-law, Kristine Elizabeth Hrin.
Harry found joy on the golf course and in the companionship of his two beloved dogs, Chunk and Bogey. Whether sharing stories, making people laugh, or simply showing up when someone needed him, Harry consistently placed the needs of others before his own.
A devout Catholic, Harry’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
A funeral service will be held 12:00pm Friday, May 15, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Garrett Park, Maryland.
