Of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Mr. Hoffman was one of two children born to Herman C. Hoffman Sr. and Marie G. Hoffman (Griffin) in Baltimore, MD. Herman had a twin brother, Bernard M. Hoffman, whom he was close to their entire lives.
Herman met his wife Rosalie in Baltimore, MD and realized they grew up in the same neighborhood. They were married in Baltimore at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948.
Herman was devoted to public service, serving in the US Navy during WWII (USS Valencia AKA-81) and serving as head of the building committee for the current church building of St. Paul Catholic Church in Damascus, MD. When he returned from the war he dedicated his career to helping others, working in insurance sales and as a Manufacturing Methods Engineer for Radio Corporations of America. Herman was always proud of his work and ability to provide for his family.
Mr. Hoffman was a lifelong devout Catholic, a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, and loyal and generous friend to many. He always loved to tell jokes and stories from his time serving in WWII to family, friends, and kind strangers. He enjoyed making others laugh and spending time with his family, and never turned down cookies and cake!
He is survived by his daughter Laura and son Mark; son-in-law Pace and daughter-in-law Elsa; grandchildren Boone, Nick, Chelsea, Leah, Charlie, and Dylan; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Friends may call at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 201 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Friday October 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Lorraine Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
