Born on May 22, 1953, in Washington, D.C. to Mary M. Boccabella and James W. Cummings.
Hugh grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland, attended St. Jerome Academy, served as an altar boy for the parish, and graduated from High Point High School in 1971.
He proudly served in the United States Navy and Florida Army National Guard before he became a cable splicer and built a career in the telecommunications field that spanned over 35 years.
Known for his resilience and determination, Hugh overcame many medical obstacles throughout his life, including a serious electrical accident that occurred in 1999, and later his first battle with cancer. On September 2, 2005, he married Pam, the love of his life.
Hugh enjoyed fishing, traveling, family gatherings, steamed crabs along with a cold beer. Most of all, he cherished time with those he loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, and friend whose strength and kindness touched many lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Pamela S. Cummings; stepdaughters, Theresa Lofton (Adrian) and Jenna Beele (Michael); grandsons, Hunter Lofton and Pearson Beele; his twin sister, Marie A. Dickson; stepsister, Pamela S.
