Jacobia (known by her loved ones as “Jaci” and “Coby”) Williams Englert passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD. She was 93.
She was born December 5, 1928, in Clarke County, Georgia, to the late James Pope and Carrie Bell Alexander Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alvin Englert; a son, Alvin John Englert II; sisters Susie Logan (Paul) and her twin Lillian Zenoviah (“Noby”) Mabe (Roscoe); as well as seven brothers: Johnny, Edgar, Millard, Joe, Jack, Jim and Lucius Williams. Survivors include a daughter, Farah Englert (Jim Gray) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; a son, Peter Williams Englert (Larry Stoltz) of Washington, DC; a sister, Martha (Johnny) Ross of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Jaci was known to everyone as one of a kind. She loved her home in Georgia, but she wanted to see the world. She became an Air Force service club director and headed for Europe in the late1950s, where she helped to open an airport on the island of Corsica in France. She had fond memories of visiting with her sister Martha, who was stationed in Germany with her husband and young family, and with her lifelong friend Eva Schmidler, whom she met in France.
Jaci also enjoyed living in Chicago and Washington, DC, where she worked as a telephone operator and school teacher. As a young mother, Jaci worked as a part-time realtor in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and became friends with many of her clients.
She will be missed by many for her stories, her laughter, and her popovers. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice in Jaci’s honor.
