Jim was born in Cheverly, Maryland on June 18, 1960, to George and Juanita Crider. He was raised in Lanham, Maryland with his parents, older sister, Patricia, and older brother, George. Jim graduated from DeMatha High School in Hyattsville Maryland where he played football and baseball. He graduated in 1982 from Towson University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in computer science. He earned his master’s degree from John’s Hopkins University in Information Technology in 1992. The majority of his 43-year career was spent at GEICO. While at GEICO, Jim held multiple positions within the Technology, Cyber Security and Compliance departments. It is at GEICO where he met his wife, Liz. They married on May 23, 1987, and have two wonderful kids, Christine and Michael. Jim loved animals and was extremely generous to many different animal organizations (Humane Society, ASPCS and other area animal rescues). He was always concerned with animals and organizations in need and contributed frequently. The woodland animals around their home were never in short supply of seed, peanuts and corn. Jim loved watching his favorite teams, especially Clemson football, Washington Capitals hockey, and Commanders football. He and Liz traveled to Ireland and Alaska and loved to vacation at many resorts in Florida, South Carolina and Aruba. He loved visiting his daughter, Christine, in Colorado, where he always looked for something to fix or improve in her home. Jim was also big-hearted with his nephew, nieces and their children, never missing birthdays and holidays. In recent years, he discovered a love of building Lego sets, and shared that passion with his son, Michael. He was planning to put together the 10,924-piece Titanic when he and Liz moved to their newly built home in his beloved Hilton Head.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, George, his mother, Juanita, and his brother, George. He is survived by his wife, Liz, daughter, Christine, and son, Michael. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Davis, brother-in-law Randy Davis, brother-in-law Fred Hiser, sister-in-law Helen Hiser, nephew Brady Davis, and nieces Kelly Davis, Anna McGreevy, and Edina Hiser.
