

Jennie Sadtler Cruickshank, 92, of Gaithersburg, MD died peacefully April 28, 2024 at Lorien Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Airy, MD. Jennie was the wife of William (Billy) Alfred Cruickshank until his death on October 7, 1987. Born October 1, 1931, in Cabin John, MD, she was the daughter of Allan Philip Sadtler, Sr. and Lorena Maye (King).
Jennie graduated from Gaithersburg High School and then pursued a career as a bookkeeper. In her later years, Jennie worked as a Patient Representative at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. She remained a resident of Gaithersburg for most of her life.
Upon retiring, Jennie thoroughly enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, crossword puzzles, crocheting, sewing and collecting dolls. She especially enjoyed collecting Holiday Barbie Dolls. Her Barbie doll collection was her pride and joy, and she was so excited when her collection was featured on the evening news in Washington, DC. Jennie had an unwavering affection for a good joke and if you knew her well, you were probably the recipient of her practical jokes and mischievous pranks.
Jennie is survived by her children, Donna Cruickshank (Ron Wilson), Barbara Whatman (Larry) and David Cruickshank (Jen Philips) as well as her grandchildren, Wesley Whatman (Jayme), Stephanie Whatman, Lindsay Mallick (Gaurav), Jonathan Marmer (Alyssa), Nicolette Riley (Connor), Brett Cruickshank and Lilly Cruickshank and eight grandchildren.
Jennie is predeceased by her parents, husband, her sisters, Helen Harmon and Beverly Rau and brothers, John (Jack) Sadtler, Philip Sadtler, Charles Sadtler and Neal Sadtler.
