Joseph Patrick Griffin passed away Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at Sibley Memorial Hospital, in Washington, DC. He was born March 17th, 1939 to Loren A. Griffin and Mary C. (McGurn) Griffin of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Military Academy in New York City, and Ben Franklin University in Washington, DC. He worked in the Athletic Department of the CYO Office for the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and also was on staff at St. Alban’s School in Washington, DC and retired from there. He is survived by his sister, Cecelia Griffin Angevine, her husband James, and his nieces Ann-Marie and Adrienne.
Visitation will be 9:00-10:00am on Thursday, September 1st, 2022 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Nebraska Avenue, 4001 Yuma Street, NW Washington, DC 20016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following, at 10:00am.
Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Newark, NJ.
