With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judith McCartney Dick, who left this world on March 18, 2025 at the age of 80. Judith grew up in Johnstown, PA, where she would spend her days exploring the outdoors. As a wife and mother, she made her home in Monroe, NY, and Rockville, MD, where she enjoyed tending to her beautiful floral garden, hosting elaborate family dinners, and watching the grandkids splash around in "grandma's" pool.
Judith dedicated her career to helping others while working at the Mental Health Association of Orange County, where she made a meaningful impact on countless lives. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend— thoughtful, compassionate, empathetic, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Her loving children and their spouses survive her: Margaret Van Brunt (Eric Van Brunt), George Lawrence (Elisia Lawrence), and her cherished grandchildren: McCartney Van Brunt (Madelyn Van Brunt), Nathan Van Brunt, Grant Lawrence, James Lawrence, and Lillian Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Dick, parents, George and Virginia McCartney, and her sister, Evelyn Waite.
Judith’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for God and her family will be deeply missed. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her joyful spirit of adventure and curiosity will continue through her grandchildren.
A service to honor her life will be an immediate family-only service held at Potomac Presbyterian Church. In honor of her love for animals and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Lucky Dog Rescue or the rescue of your choice.
