Karlene Southard

Karlene Patricia Southard, 58, of Montgomery Village, Maryland, passed away on April 10, 2018.  Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to her late parents Colonel Charles J. and Barbara Garvey.  Karlene attended Montgomery College and worked in various administrative roles during her career, most recently at Butler’s Orchard.  She volunteered at Covenant Life Church and was a loving caregiver to family members.  She loved to read, travel, and kayak, and enjoyed the company of family and friends. 

Beloved wife of Rick Southard; cherished sister of Kenneth Garvey; mother to Lauren Southard Merritt (wife of Nathaniel Merritt) and Christopher Tucker Southard.  She has three beautiful grandchildren:  Daniel Merritt (8), Levi Merritt (6) and Gracie Merritt (2) that she loved very much.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Oakdale Church Chapel, 3415 Emory Church Road, Olney, MD.
