

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020 Leslie Adele Bergman of Rockville, MD passed away at Brightview Fallsgrove Senior Living. Loving sister of Ellen A. Chiazze, adoring aunt of Kathleen Anne Chiazze (Keith Campbell), Caroline Anne Chiazze Hudson (husband Matthew), Michael Leonard Chiazze, and Ellen Marie DeBalso (husband Gary) and loving great aunt of Joseph Edward Bullis, Madeline Anne Chiazze Hudson and Jennie Eva Chiazze Hudson. Leslie was born in Jamestown, NY in the county of Chautauqua. Jamestown is a beautiful small town in upstate New York. Her family was of Swedish/Finish decent. She was the middle child of 3.
Leslie moved to Washington, D.C. many years ago and resided at Tiber Island on the waterfront. She received her master’s degree in social work from Howard University. She was a social worker for many years helping families of poverty and abuse. She loved her work as a social worker. After she retired, she volunteered at the Library of Congress.
She was a huge fan of the musical world walking to performances frequently at the Arena Theater near her home in D.C. She was passionate about art and loved Monet and Van Gough.
She often donated to many animal rights causes. Her cats she had during her life were rescues and she loved them dearly. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.
She had a wonderful, longtime neighbor and friend, Johari, who lived next door to her in Washington. They would visit with each other almost daily. Even their cats, Burgess (Leslie’s) and Masque (Johari’s) were great friends. Johari was a very dear friend to Leslie helping to care for her during her life.
She was a kind, gentle soul always appreciating the small things in life. She will be missed dearly.
