

Mabel Vinson Dean, age 102,, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025 in Chambersburg PA. She was born in Germantown MD on October 8, 1922, along with her twin sister Ethel, to parents Edgar Vinson and Leona Burdette Vinson.
Mabel is preceded in death by her husband Harold D. T. Dean, as well as her siblings Fred Douglas Vinson, Ethel McGaha, Anna Windsor, Nellie Phoebus, and Mary Jane Case Atwell.
Mabel and her husband Harold were married for 58 years and lived in Gaithersburg MD most of that time. She is survived by four children, Judy Word (Don, dec.) Jim Dean (Bobbie) Sharyn Leiter (Mike) and Bob Dean (Jackie) She has 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mabel was a member of Washington Grove United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star,she was an avid golfer, loved to sew and make crafts and decorations for her church bazaars. She worked as a buyer of goods for the Navy Exchange in Bethesda MD and in Pensacola and Orlando Florida.
Several years after her husband's death in 1998, she began a 25 year relationship with Luis Longoria and together they traveled all over the country.
As her health declined she made her new residence at Providence Place Senior Living Community where she found new friends and new activities.
Mabel's family invite you to visitation at DeVol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg on Friday August 8, 10 am, memorial service at 11 am followed by graveside service at Darnestown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
