

Margaret Schemering Leubecker, 76, passed away peacefully October 13, 2023. She was one of six children to Margaret Heneghan and Lefty Schemering, born on July 24, 1947 in Arlington, VA. Margaret grew up in Arlington attending St. Anne Catholic School and Bishop Dennis J. O’Connell and Washington & Lee High Schools. Margaret also attended the Washington School of Medical Techniques and spent several years managing medical services offices, and was a dedicated volunteer for the family advocacy committee at Autumn Lake Senior Healthcare center in Chevy Chase, Md.
Margaret was proud to be a Washingtonian and was an active member at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Margaret loved good music, dancing, spending time at Columbia Country Club, her favorite restaurants, and visiting the beach and New York City (to see Broadway musicals). Armed with a great sense of humor, a big smile and full of many many stories, she mostly loved spending time with family and friends, hosting everyone in her kitchen and breakfast nook on Bradley Lane.
Margaret, also affectionately known as Grandmom and Mama Leubs or Mrs Leu, was most dedicated to her role as a mother and a grandmother. She also prayed for, cooked for and mentored her children’s friends who visited her home.
Preceded in death by her Husband of 31 years, Stephen Tyson Leubecker, she is survived by her four children, Thomas Zinzi (Bianca), Michael Zinzi (Aimie), Margaret Lewis (Charles) John Leubecker (Katie); her seven grandchildren, Tommy, Abby, Anthony, Joey, Charlie, Hank, and Freddy. Preceded in death by her brothers Stephen Schemering (Diane) and Christopher Schemering, Margaret is survived by her twin brother Michael Schemering (Jeannie) and sisters Ann and Marian.
A viewing will be held October 23 from 5-8 PM at the Shrine of The Most Blessed Sacrament 3630 Quesada Street NW Washington, DC. On October 24 at 11 AM, the funeral mass will be held at the Shrine of The Most Blessed Sacrament 3630 Quesada Street NW Washington, DC.
