Mary Anne was born the youngest of eight to Walter and Margaret Daly in Conshohocken, PA. Growing up, she loved her family, dogs and sports, especially the Philadelphia A’s. She met Theodore Greene when hostessing part time at a restaurant while helping to care for her ailing mother. Ted and Mary Anne married in 1963.
Marrying Ted started a lifelong adventure taking her to San Jose, California and leading to a worldwide journey - the Seychelles, West Virginia, Singapore, Indonesia, the UK and eventually a final move to Maryland. While in California, Ted and Mary Anne had two daughters - Mary Anne and Anastasia. Following Ted around the world led Mary Anne to value family travel. She took their girls, and later the girl’s husbands and her grandchildren on many trips resulting in new experiences, laughs, and great memories.
While raising her family, Mary Anne completed her Associates degree in accounting at San Jose City College and began a rewarding administrative career. She especially enjoyed her work in human resources at ORI, located in Rockville, MD.
Mary Anne lived a life of Catholic faith. She was an active member in St. Christopher’s Parish in San Jose, CA, and St. Raphael’s Parish in Rockville, MD. She devoted herself to ministries that brought comfort and dignity to all, especially the Twinning Committee, which linked St. Martin of Tours in NE DC with St. Raphael’s. She served as a eucharistic minister to the sick and was a founding member of St. Raphael’s Sodality. When her grandchildren started school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Rockville, Mary Anne attended every performance, concert and grandparents’ day.
Mary Anne’s dedication to the Maryland Terrapins nearly equaled her faith in God. A longtime Terrapin Club member and season ticket holder to men’s basketball and football, she has the best seat in God’s heavenly house.
Mary Anne lived out her last years at BrightView West End in Rockville, MD. There, she enjoyed new friends with whom she played bridge and poker, many activities and trips, but most of all, the dedicated and caring staff. We are especially grateful for all the efforts they took to keep her both safe and engaged during COVID.
In 2003, Ted preceded Mary Anne in death. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Anne Hanrahan and Anastasia Kaluzienski, Anastasia’s husband Matt Kaluzienski and their four children, Matthew, Moira, Paige and Erin, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Moran of Media, PA, and countless nieces and nephews spanning three generations.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockville, MD with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10:30 a.m. St. Mary’s is located at 520 Viers Mill Road, Rockville, MD, 20852.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations to causes Mary Anne cared about. She strongly believed in Catholic education and appreciated the St. Mary’s faith community. Mary Anne also fought arthritis for most of her adult life and actively supported her granddaughter Moira’s fundraising efforts.
