Mauricio Edgardo Barrientos

Mauricio was born on November 8, 1950, in San Salvador, El Salvador, to Rafael Barrientos and Rosa Martínez de Barrientos. Throughout his life, he carried with him the warmth, resilience, and generosity that would become the foundation of the man so many came to love.

Mauricio was an engineer by profession and a talented musician who spent many years in the entertainment industry. Whether through his work or his music, he brought creativity and passion to everything he did. But his greatest accomplishments were found in the lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the countless acts of kindness he offered without ever expecting anything in return.

Mauricio had a remarkable way of making life feel lighter. No matter what challenges came his way, he faced them with grace, humor, and an easygoing spirit that put others at ease. He believed there was always a reason to smile, and he had a gift for finding joy even in the ordinary moments. Friends, neighbors, and strangers alike knew they could count on him. If someone needed help, Mauricio was there without hesitation.

Above all else, Mauricio was a devoted father and grandfather. His family was the center of his world. He took immense pride in his children and found endless joy in his grandchildren, whose laughter filled his heart. The love he gave so freely will continue to live on through them and through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his son, Mauricio, and his spouse, Andrea; his daughters, Selma and her significant other, Arnaldo, and Evelyn and her spouse, Shane. He is also lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Giovanni, Angel, Christian, and Isabella, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by his love, generosity, and unwavering presence.

A memorial service celebrating Mauricio’s life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD. Following the service, family and friends are invited to remain for light refreshments and fellowship from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. as we gather to share memories, laughter, and stories of a life so well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mauricio’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Mauricio’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lessons he taught, the music he shared, and the countless memories that will forever bring smiles through our tears. He showed us the importance of kindness, family, laughter, and living with an open heart. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried with us.
