Michael attended The Heights School in Potomac, MD from 3rd grade through 12th grade where he developed life-long friendships with many classmates, coaches, teachers and staff. While he attended The Heights, he was fortunate to travel to Spain with his Spanish teacher, TJ Uhen, and several class mates. They were able to go for six weeks two summers to a boys camp where they were able to strengthen their ability to communicate in Spanish and help the boys attending the camp with their understanding of English. They also were able to spend time travelling through Spain. After realizing that he was starving himself, because he did not get a steady diet of hamburgers and chocolate covered donuts in Spain, he began his love affair with trying new foods.
After graduation from the Heights, Michael attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD for 3 years. He joined Delta Upsilon fraternity and was fortunate to have maintained contact with many of his friends from JHU.
After college, Michael worked in several areas but his years working at Vignola Gourmet in Rockville, MD were by far his most rewarding. He enjoyed meeting people and catering events and school lunches. He met and worked with many very special people at Our Lady of Mercy School in Potomac, MD on both their lunch program and special events.
Michael enjoyed 8-ball and 9-ball billiards, and played in amateur pool leagues for over 20 years. Through pool he developed many treasured friendships and reached the national championship tournament with several teams.
Michael loved sports both participating and watching them. He played on the JV and Varsity basketball teams at The Heights. Outside of sports in school, he became an avid golfer and would play whenever he had the opportunity.
Michael’s greatest passions were cooking, and sharing stories and experiences with family, friends, and new people. He loved helping family, friends and even strangers whether with a willing ear, strong arm, and caring presence.
