

Monireh, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2021. She is survived by her three sons, Parviz Molavi, Jalal Molavi (Iran), and Shahrokh Molavi (Tammi), and her adoring grandchildren Meetra Farid (Parham), Niloofar, Josephine and Evan, and great-grandchildren Soraya, Syrus, and Saam.
She is also survived by her sister, Malihe Ghazi, of Canada and her brother, Dr. Mehdi Khaghani Sorkhabi, of California, as well a many, many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Monireh was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of more than 49 years, Khosrow Molavi, and her sisters Nadareh Sarafzadeh and Tahereh Nakhaee.
Born in 1932, to Dr. Ebrahim and Kobra Khamum in Tabriz, Iran, as one of five children, she enjoyed a lively childhood with family and friends. Monireh was raised in Tabriz where she attended nursing school and later worked as a school nurse at Yusef Abad High School for Girls in Tehran.
After marrying Khosrow, they moved around the country, raising their family in various cities - the life of an Army officer and his family. She traveled extensively throughout Iran and the world, and eventually in the late 1990’s immigrated permanently to the United States, gaining American citizenship in 2002 - something she was very proud of. She was able to fulfill her lifelong desire to travel to Mecca in 2005, making her way with great determination at the age of 72. She has been a resident of Bethesda, Maryland for the past 17 years.
She found great joy in spending time with family, friends and neighbors, and was always ready with a thoughtful gift and kind words for anyone she encountered. She loved to entertain and was famous for her special birthday cake made with love. Prior to Covid-19 restrictions, she enjoyed attending her senior center daily and spending time there with her many friends. She loved to attend English classes, complete word find puzzles and play bingo. Her love of life, spunk, positive energy, and shining spirit always lit up a room.

Monireh’s life will be celebrated by family during a private ceremony (due to Covid-19 restrictions) at the Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, Maryland.
