April 30, 1978 - July 26, 2021
Nicolas Brooke Christiansen, 43, of Germantown, Maryland, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Casey House-Montgomery Hospice, Rockville, Maryland. He was the loving son of Stephen and Barbara Christiansen.
Nicholas was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and lived most of his life in Montgomery County, growing up in Poolesville and Darnestown and then moving to Germantown. He graduated from Quince Orchard High School in 1996 and attended Towson University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 2001.
He was a long-time employee of Smokey Glen Farm Barbequers, working summers and weekends throughout high school and college where he learned leadership skills and the importance of personal responsibility. After college Nicholas worked briefly for Enterprise-Rent-A-Car before accepting a branch manager position at Wachovia Bank and then Wells Fargo. His interest in finance lead to further study and certification as a mortgage loan advisor working for several different private mortgage companies in the Baltimore-Washington DC area.
Growing up, Nicholas loved all sports, especially ice hockey, skating with the Howard County Traveling Team through middle school. He, also, enjoyed playing tennis, golf, basketball, and roller blading. His favorite teams were the Washington Capitals, the Redskins, and the Baltimore Orioles. Rarely did he miss watching a game.
Music was also an important part of Nicholas’ life. He had a good ear for music and after only a few basic lessons taught himself to play the guitar and keyboard. It was always a good time when several friends would get together for a jam session. Nicholas’ eclectic taste in music was evident in the large collection of CDs he accumulated. He loved the Beatles, but also appreciated many other genres including Classical, Rock, Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues.
Nicholas was a kind and gentle soul – thoughtful, sensitive, smart, witty, and funny. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Nicholas is survived by two sisters: Erin Malone and her husband, Brahm, of Brunswick, MD, and their three children, Logan, Chase, and Delaney; and Courtney Wingate and her husband, Greg, of Arvada, CO, and their two children, Avery and Hadley.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Christiansen House, 12924 Meadow View Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20878
