With great sorrow, we announce the death of our beloved Page Masonson, age 30, who died unexpectedly at home on August 15, 2023. Page was the daughter of Grace Masonson and the late Raymond Masonson, and sister of Olivia Masonson. She leaves behind her much-loved and devoted boyfriend (David Petrucelli), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Page was a graduate of Magruder High School, where she graduated first in her class and was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar. She attended Northwestern University and graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) with a degree in music. After graduation, Page worked as a custom picture framer, graphic artist, and art gallery host. As a self-taught silversmith, she designed beautifully detailed silver and jeweled pieces for her own jewelry business, Lux Lunae Designs. Most recently, Page was a server owner in PokemonGo and an avid raider, hoster, and PvP enthusiast.
Page was, above all, a brilliant, highly creative, and deeply caring person. Her memory and recall of facts was legendary. Her hilariously funny wit and humor blossomed in preschool when she would send her family into hysterics by imitating her teachers’ and classmates’ gestures, mannerisms, and speech to perfection.
Page’s musical talents were many. At Magruder, she was the only person in her class to receive the highest score of “5” on her AP Music Theory exam—and the only female ever at the time. She founded the first all-girl rock band at Magruder, where she was lead vocalist and played guitar and drums. She also enjoyed playing the quads in the Magruder Marching Band, timpani in the Magruder Symphonic Band, and participating as a member of the 2010 Maryland All State Senior Women’s Chorus.
While at UPenn, Page served as Music Director for the KEYNOTES a cappella choir, where she composed and performed her own arrangements. She also sang in the UPenn University Choir. Page loved to sing and play piano, especially with her sister and friends. She will also be remembered for her love of animals, having raised many teddy bear hamsters, and gained a substantial following in the online hamster community where she advocated for humane hamster treatment. As a talented artist, she enjoyed painting and creating original designs using a variety of media.
Page will be remembered for her unique and inquisitive mind, incredible intelligence, her incomparable sense of humor, her gentle and kind manner—except when arguing to make a point—ha!—and her humanitarian sensibilities. We will miss her sweet, bright smile, and the deep love we shared.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at The Lyceum on Sandy Spring Meeting House Road in Sandy Spring, Maryland, between 2-4 p.m. Details can be found on Olivia’s, Grace’s and Page’s Facebook pages.
