

On May 31, 2024, Paul Oberman passed away at Sibley Memorial Hospital on his 83rd birthday. He was born on May 31, 1941 in Washington, D.C. and was a proud Washingtonian. Paul was a graduate of Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University, where he earned a bachelors and masters in history. He also did extensive doctoral studies at the University of Gottingen in Germany. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1963-1965.
Predeceased by his mother, Virginia E., father, Martin L., sister, Eileen A., brothers, Martin J. and Patrick H. He leaves to mourn his sister, M. Therese Delhomme of Silver Spring, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Paul was a kind, compassionate and gentle soul. He loved his books, history, learning, and home cooking at family dinners. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral mass will be at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Washington, D.C. on July 8 at 10am. Internment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Georgetown University Library.
