

Paul E. Prosswimmer, Jr., 93, of Gaithersburg, MD, beloved husband of Barbara Pauline (Resch) Prosswimmer, passed away at his Asbury Methodist Village home on Sunday, October 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Paul and Florence (Wendt) Prosswimmer, he grew up in Great Neck, NY. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1951 and went to work as a mechanical engineer for Servo Corporation on Long Island, NY where he met his wife of 68 years. He then earned an MBA from Hofstra University in 1963. Later in his business career, he worked in sales and marketing for Conrac Corporation and Addressograph Multigraph Corporation, moving his family to Rockville, MD and Huntsville, AL, finally settling again in Rockville, MD. He continued with Boeing Computer Services, where he was both a sales manager and a loaned executive to United Way. Paul completed his career with Federal Sources.
Paul was an avid bike rider and explored many bike trails in the Washington, DC area. He also enjoyed sailing and swimming and loved watching the Washington Redskins play football. As a longtime member of Geneva Presbyterian Church, he served for many years on its Session and Geneva Day School board, sang in the choir and made many dear friends in the Mariners couples group. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and many extended family vacations to the Outer Banks of NC.
Besides his devoted and loving wife, Barbara, Paul is survived by his sister, Miriam Longyear and her husband, Russell; sister-in-law, Elsie Bishof and her late husband, Mike; and sister-in-law, Susan Buce and her husband, Alan. He is also survived by his three children, Karen Plona and her husband, Vincent of Bloomfield, CT; Doctors Paul Prosswimmer III and his wife, Geralyn of Flemington, NJ; and Laurie Bokulic and her husband, Robert of Columbia, MD. Paul was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Hank Plona; Robert Lebar and his wife, Alison, daughters Maisie & Tillie; Matthew Bokulic; Allison Castagna and her husband, Taylor, son Miles; Katie Prosswimmer and her fiancé, Danny Fitzsimmons; Brian Bokulic and his wife, Katie, daughter Grace; and Michael Bokulic. Paul also leaves many special nieces and nephews as well as cherished friends.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the loving care of the nurses and caregivers at Interim HealthCare and the entire staff of Holy Cross Hospice.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on November 19, 2022 at 12:00PM at Geneva Presbyterian Church11931 Seven Locks Road, Rockville, MD 20854. The service will be live-streamed at www.genevapotomac.org.Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
