Richard Charles Brown, 62, beloved spouse of Susan Brown, passed away into glory from his home in Germantown on May 25 after a five-year battle with ocular metastatic melanoma. He was a life-long resident of Montgomery County and a graduate of Churchill High School. After obtaining a BS in Political Science at High Point College, he returned home to marry and start working with Associated General Contractors of America. He continued working there for over 40 years and became the Executive Director of Convention and Meeting Services.
Rick was an avid golfer, coached many of his boys' basketball teams, served as a Young Life leader, Montgomery County YL Committee Chairman, and served as pastor at Northgate Community Church for over 30 years. He was celebrated for his integrity, faithfulness and short, insightful teachings. His faithfulness was exemplified in his small group ministry leadership, enthusiasm for men's ministry and the many characters which he portrayed at the annual Vacation Bible School, delighting the hundreds of children who attended over the years.
Rick's greatest joy was to watch, with Sue, their boys grow up, marry and become God-fearing husbands and fathers. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his mother, Ann, sons: Joshua, Timothy and Benjamin, their wives: Emily, Jamie and Kristen, and grandsons: Jackson, Cody and Matthew.
A celebration of Rick's life-journey will take place on Monday, June 1 at 10:30am at the Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene, 8921 Warfield Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20882. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. This man of integrity and Godly character will be sorely missed.
