Robert Lee Carter

Robert Lee Carter, 81, of Rockville, Maryland passed away on May 26, 2024, at Shady Grove Hospital with family by his side. He was born on July 10, 1943, in Rockville, Maryland. Robert worked as a roofer for most of his life until retirement.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his children, Steven Bounds (wife Geraldine), Daniel Carter, Sr., Michael Carter (wife Kristie), Linda Hunter and Brian Carter. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren including his great granddaughter Aubrey Hunter whom he adored and special daughter in law Janet Horton. He also leaves behind his dog Freda and his cats Frisky and Milo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl Lee Carter and Pearl Lynn Carter, several brothers and sisters, his son Donnie Horton (wife Janet) and most recently his beloved wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Carter.Robert was an avid Washing Commanders and NASCAR fan. Throughout his life he enjoyed cars, shooting pool, camping, fishing, spending time with family and working with wood.

Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Thursday June 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Potomac United Methodist Church Cemetery, 9908 S. Glen Road, Potomac, MD 20854.
