Robert Julian Jaramillo, known affectionately as Julian, left an indelible mark on the world when he passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2025, at the age of 40. Born on May 20, 1985, in Rockville, Maryland, Julian is a cherished son of Luis Alberto Jaramillo and Jacque Lynn Jaramillo, and a vibrant presence whose creativity and kindness touched countless lives.
Julian was a true artist, weaving his passion for culinary arts and music into every facet of his life. In the kitchen, he was a creative force, crafting dishes that delighted restaurant patrons and warmed the hearts of those at homeless shelters where he volunteered. His career in the restaurant industry spanned diverse cuisines from around the globe, each plate a testament to his skill and love for bringing people together through food. In California, Julian ran a food truck that became a sensation, drawing crowds that wrapped around the block for his inspired creations. Beyond the kitchen, Julian’s generosity shined brightly where he dedicated himself to supporting addicts and individuals experiencing homelessness, offering not just meals but hope and compassion. Julian’s spirit was a melody of joy and connection. He filled rooms with laughter and created memories that his family and friends will carry forever.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Luis and Jacque; his brothers, Carlos (and wife, Melissa), and Tony (and wife, Jenn); his beloved nieces and nephews Charlie, Chloe, Nico, and Indi; his treasured dog Axie, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will forever cherish his warmth. Julian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Julian and Francisca Jaramillo, and Helen and Robert Dean, and his adored husky, Ash.
A visitation to honor Julian’s life will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to Miriam’s Kitchen (www.miriamskitchen.org) or the homeless charity of your choice. When making a donation please dedicate it in the memory of Robert Julian Jaramillo to continue his legacy of compassion for those in need.
Julian’s light will continue to shine through the lives he touched, the meals he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
