Romana Gomes

Romana Gomes, 73, was born on May 23, 1953, in Bangladesh, and passed away on June 7, 2026. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her, and for a life shaped by steadfast faith, generous compassion, and the quiet strength of being truly beloved.

Romana’s devotion was evident in the way she cared for others and held them in prayer, especially when they were sick. In her home, love was often expressed through simple, lasting gifts: cooking traditional meals that gathered people close, tending a garden with patient attention, and sewing with care—each act reflecting a heart that gave freely and consistently.

Romana is survived by her husband Vincent Gomes; her son Leo Gomes; her son Alfred Gomes and his wife Jacquline Gomes; and her grandchildren Audrey, Jonathan, and Joshua Gomes.

Visitation will be held at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD 20877, on Wednesday June 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday June 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, 6701 Muncaster Mill Rd., Derwood, MD 20855, on Monday June 22, 2026, at 11am. Interment to follow at All Souls Cemetery, 11401 Brink Rd., Germantown, MD 20876.
