Ross Andrew White

Ross Andrew White, a beloved husband, brother, father, and friend, passed away suddenly on the morning of March 19, 2021. Ross was a resident of Montgomery Village, Maryland. Ross was born in Washington D.C. to Donald Lloyd and Jean Smith White. He was 70 years old at the time of his passing.

Ross attended Montgomery County Public schools, graduating from Walt Whitman High School, Class of 1969. He graduated from Denison University in 1973 with a Bachelor's degree in History. He was in the food service field serving as a manager, chef, and jack of all trades. He received his Master’s in Education from George Washington University in 1992. Ross coached tennis camps for young students in Montgomery Village with Dr. Ray Pitts. He had a distinguished career as a history teacher, tennis coach for girls and boys, golf coach, and debate coach for Montgomery County Public Schools. He served Springbrook High School for 26 years until his retirement in June 2019. As an elder at Neelsville Presbyterian Church, he served as youth Sunday school teacher and Group Work camp coach. After retirement, Ross spent time as a substitute teacher. At Restoration Church, he worked as Small Groups Coordinator, Sunday school teacher, and greeter. He volunteered at the Canine Humane Network in Highland Maryland. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cooking, and generously made homemade dog biscuits for the neighborhood pups, and delicious beautiful snacks for neighbors, friends, and family. Ross loved going to concerts, hiking, traveling, playing board games, tennis, and golf. He had a deep love of family and friends and cherished the time spent together. Ross was an avid sports enthusiast and an unwavering fan of the Washington Nationals, Washington Capitals, and the Washington Football Team (where his grandfather played the trumpet for the football band). Ross was a loving husband, friend, and best friend to his son Adam.

Ross is survived by his wife Dell, who were married for 36 years and son Adam; brother Steven White (Linda Klein, significant other) of New Haven, Connecticut, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and extended family. His beloved nieces and nephews are: Connie White (Frank Longmore, significant other), Tracy White, Holly White (Andrew Jones), Heather Carp (Brian Carp), Emily Hardiman Robison (Jared Robison) , Andrew Hardiman (Marissa Hardiman) , Jacob Pigg, and Leah P. Thomas (Eric Thomas). Moreover, there are many cousins and dear friends that are shared and cherished by Ross and Dell’s family.
