November 25, 1964 – October 25, 2026
With profound love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sopha Kan on October 25, 2026.
Born in Cambodia, Sopha spent her early years in Phnom Penh and Saigon before making her way to the United States where she built her life for herself and her family. An entrepreneur at heart, Sopha was a hairstylist and nail salon owner, embodying the independence, resilience, and strong work ethic that defined her life.
Sopha was a woman of extraordinary strength and an even greater capacity for love. Outgoing, spirited, and fiercely determined, she approached life with courage and an unwavering belief in moving forward. One of her favorite sayings, "We have to survive," reflected the philosophy by which she lived: to hold on to hope, persevere through challenges, and never give up.
But there was so much more to Sopha than her strength. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—cooking for loved ones, gardening, traveling, exploring new cities, and capturing memories through photographs. Above all, Sopha expressed her love through caring for others.
Throughout her five-year journey with cancer, Sopha demonstrated remarkable courage, dignity, and resilience. Even in the face of immense challenges, she remained true to the strength and determination that carried her through life. Her illness was only one chapter of her story and never defined the extraordinary woman she was.
Sopha is survived by her loving husband, Duc Doan; her daughter, Jennifer Doan; her son-in-law, Tuan Tran; her beloved mother, Loc Ly; her extended family; and their cherished family dog, Peeves.
Sopha will forever be remembered for her strength, perseverance, generous heart, and the boundless love she shared with those around her. Her spirit and legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the lessons she instilled: to remain hopeful, to stand strong in the face of adversity, and to never stop fighting.
