Thomas Patrick Dunne

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Thomas Patrick Dunne, on July 14, 2022, at age 85. Tom was born to Finley Peter and Josephine Dunne on September 3, 1936, in Chicago, IL. He attended St. Ignatius High School and the University of Illinois. In 1960 he married his loving wife, Carol Lucas. Tom, Carol and their four children moved to Maryland in 1969. Tom had a lengthy and successful career in the Federal government and the private sector including Administrator of the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration, Associate Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and Vice President of Dyn Corp.

Tom, also known as “Buddy” to his grandchildren, was a devout Catholic, an avid reader, a Notre Dame enthusiast, a political junkie and a lover of fine food and good wine. His greatest joy was his family. He cherished watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was proud of their many achievements. Tom will be remembered for his dedication to his faith, devotion to family and generosity to everyone he met.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol, his children Jeanne Olding (Pete), Peter Dunne (Amy), Sharon Winesett (Archie) and Susan Lozupone (Joe), 14 grandchildren, Tom, Kate, Maggie and Patrick Olding, Finn, Kevin, Brennan and Bridie Dunne, Archie, Meghan, and Erin Winesett, Joseph, Brendan, and Conor Lozupone, and his two brothers Jim and Terry.

Tom was preceded in death by his brothers Peter and Dennis.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday July 20th at 10:00 am at Georgetown Preparatory School Chapel, 10900 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD 20852. The funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am at Georgetown Prep Chapel.
