Thomas James Tolan, Jr.

Thomas J. Tolan, Jr., of Germantown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Tommy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Amy, of Germantown, daughter Jacquie (Jason) Sawyer, of Fairfax Station, VA, Jay (Sam), of Fairfax, VA, and granddaughters Beckett and Devyn Tolan. Tommy also leaves behind beloved granddogs Deuce and Tazzo. Tommy is survived by his sister Mary (John) Vandemoortel and was predeceased by his parents, Tom & Sara, and brother Joe.

Tommy was born on August 9, 1953, the son of Sara and Thomas J. Tolan, Sr., of Geneva. Tommy graduated from Geneva High School in 1971. Tommy and Amy McCormack were married on June 23, 1979, in Geneva. Tommy was a longtime member of both the West Lake Road Fire Association and the Nester Hose Fire Company, as well as the Sons of the American Legion (Winnek Post #396), all in Geneva.Tommy worked as an electrician for the Army Corps of Engineers for more than 30years, both at Seneca Army Depot on Seneca Lake and the MacMillan Water Treatment Plant in DC.In his retirement, Tommy enjoyed golf, hanging out at Home Depot and serving as a marshal/starter at Poolesville Golf Course.

The family will receive visitors at Mother Seton Catholic Church,19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown, MD 20874 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM where a Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m.
