On Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 1:30 a.m., William ?Bill? Black of Gaithersburg, MD, died peacefully surrounded by his family.
A native of Sheffield, Alabama, Bill was a military veteran and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Despite growing up during the Jim Crow era when Blacks were not allowed to enter the local library, Bill had a passion for reading and discussing current events. All who knew him will miss these lively discussions, his brash sense of humor and signature wit.
Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ludel; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Pete Curran; daughter Andrea; grandsons, Peter and William; sister Frances Sledge; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn (2 Montgomery Village Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD).
Interment will follow at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery.
